## User

can you review last conversation so you are aware of what has been done and them check bot performance

## Assistant

It's now 1:07 PM ET — the live test data from today is populated. Let me check the bot's actual trading performance.

## Assistant

Let me pull the full trades log for today to compute aggregate stats.

## Assistant

Good — no errors today. Let me check overall account P/L context and whether this matches the fast_prediction_engine's live-test purpose from last session.

## Assistant

Good, the reference dataset logging is working as intended. Here's the summary.

## Last session recap
Your prior session (2026-09-11 03:06) confirmed the old 9-phase prediction engine is gone for good, replaced by the new `fast_prediction_engine`/`fast_entry_gate`/`fast_pipeline` (Direction/Confidence design). Replay sims of 09-09/09-10 showed net-negative results (~30% win rate) after fixing a set-ordering bug; a confidence-threshold filter idea was dropped since confidence showed ~zero correlation with win/loss. Full raw-indicator snapshot logging was added specifically so today, 2026-09-11, would be a clean live reference dataset. Session ended with 64/64 tests passing and today set to be the real-world live test.

## Today's bot performance (through 1:07 PM ET)
- **15 closed trades, 1 open (TJGC, currently -$6.28 unrealized)**
- **Win rate: 33.3%** (5W / 10L) — in line with the sim's ~30% prediction
- **Net realized P/L: +$24.83** — small win despite the low win rate, driven by two big winners (USDE +$74.93, SBET +$45.90) outweighing several -$20 to -$35 losers
- No errors/exceptions in today's log
- Reference dataset logging (`data/fast_engine/2026-09-11.jsonl`) is capturing correctly — 667 rows so far

**Notable pattern:** heavy churn on a few tickers — MARA was entered/exited 4x, USDE 5x — with mixed results each time (win-loss-win-loss). Several losers show meaningful MFE before reversing (e.g. CHPT -$18.28 pl despite +19.89 MFE, USDE -$35.55 pl despite +16.59 MFE) — trades that were briefly profitable before round-tripping back through the trailing stop into a loss.

The win rate matches what the offline replay predicted, but today is net positive rather than negative — worth watching a few more days before drawing conclusions on the new engine. Want me to keep monitoring as the session progresses, or dig into the round-trip losers (MFE positive, exit negative) to see if the trailing-stop distance is too tight on these entries?

## User

any bug flag on the logs

## Assistant

I checked today's `sip_bot_2026-09-11.log` for anything error/warning/failure-level. No `ERROR`/`CRITICAL`/exceptions at all — but four warning-level patterns are worth knowing about:

**1. Two RECONCILE mismatches (benign, self-resolved)**
- `10:16:16` — local ledger shows MARA open, broker doesn't yet (fired the same second as the entry order — reconcile ran before the fill confirmation caught up)
- `10:36:01` — broker shows SBET open, local ledger doesn't (5 seconds before the exit fired)

Both are just the reconcile check racing the order-fill confirmation, not a real desync — nothing needed.

**2. ATR stop fallback (non-issue)**
Only 2 occurrences, both at `00:08` during pre-market startup, before any real trading. No bars were available yet so it fell back to `fixed_cents` as designed. Didn't recur during the session.

**3. 96 `get_minute_bars` backend timeouts, 12:30–13:04 ET**
A 34-minute stretch where Alpaca's data API was timing out on minute-bar requests across ~96 different scan-universe symbols (transient upstream slowness, not our code). One of those was TJGC at 12:45 — didn't affect its live trailing stop since that runs off streaming price ticks, not minute bars.

**4. Real gap worth flagging — TJGC stuck in a stale-data loop**
TJGC has been open since 9:40 AM (still open now, ~3.5 hrs — every other trade today closed in 5–35 min). Four times (11:00, 11:30, 13:09, 13:10) the log shows: *"TJGC kept in pool (open position) but missing from this rescan's universe — reusing stale pm_high... resistance will not reflect current price action."* Its health score has been quietly degrading the whole time (71 → 51 → 47.8, currently STALE), and its trailing stop hasn't updated since 10:08 (price just hasn't made a new high). It's not in danger — the trailing stop is still live-price-driven — but there's no forced exit for a position whose health goes stale and falls out of the scan universe for hours. That's the same gap your [[entry pipeline simplification]] review flagged as pending (intraday_health cadence, Option D chosen but not implemented).

Want me to look at whether a max-hold-time or health-degradation forced exit should get added, given TJGC is sitting there right now as a live example?

## User

yes, if health is deteriorating, after 3 confirmation, sell out

## Assistant

Now I'll implement the change. First, `intraday_health.py`:

## Assistant

Now add the new `should_force_exit_on_deterioration()` function:

## Assistant

Now update `config.json`:

## Assistant

Now add the validation entry in `config_loader.py`:

## Assistant

Now the `monitor.py` hook:

## Assistant

Good, no filtering. Now let's run the existing test suite to make sure nothing broke, then add new tests.

## Assistant

All 64 existing tests still pass. Now let's add tests for the new behavior.

## Assistant

All 13 new tests pass. Let's run the full suite once more and a dry-run/config validation check to be thorough.

## Assistant

Implemented and fully tested. Here's what changed:

**`intraday_health.py`**
- New `consecutive_deteriorating` counter on the persisted per-symbol health state: increments on any raw read that isn't `HEALTHY`/`WATCH` (i.e. `STALE` or `UNHEALTHY`), resets on a `HEALTHY`/`WATCH` read — this is what catches TJGC's exact pattern (stuck at STALE for hours, never bad enough to hit `UNHEALTHY`, never recovering either).
- New `should_force_exit_on_deterioration(new_entry, cfg)` — `True` once that counter hits `exit_confirm_reads` (3).
- Updated the module's "CRITICAL SEPARATION OF RESPONSIBILITIES" docstring to document this as a deliberate, narrow exception rather than silently contradicting it.

**`monitor.py`** — `_update_intraday_health()` now checks, for each symbol with an open position, whether health has been confirmed deteriorating for 3 straight evaluations (60s apart, so ~3 min sustained), and if so calls `position_mgr.exit_position(symbol, price, "HEALTH_DETERIORATION")`, frees the slot, and registers the cooldown — same pattern the existing trailing-stop exit path uses.

**`config.json`** — added `intraday_health.exit_on_deterioration_enabled: true` and `exit_confirm_reads: 3` (toggle + threshold, in case you want to tune or disable it later).

**Tests** — added `tests/test_health_deterioration_exit.py` (13 new tests: counter increment/reset logic, threshold/disable behavior, and a monitor-level test proving it only force-exits the open-position symbol at threshold, leaves others alone). Full suite: **77/77 passing**. `dry_run_check.py` and `validate_config()` both clean.

**One thing to flag:** the live bot has been running as a single long-lived process since 9:28 AM (PID 303505) — Python won't pick up these file changes until it's restarted, and TJGC is still open right now. Restarting will re-read `state/positions.json`/`state/intraday_health.json` fine (TJGC's deterioration counter will just start fresh from 0, so it'd need ~3 more minutes of STALE reads post-restart before force-exiting), but it's a live-trading process restart so I want your go-ahead rather than doing it unilaterally. Want me to restart it now, or wait until you're ready?

## User

wait it will run next time bot is started

## Assistant

Understood — no restart needed. The change is committed to the code/config now and will take effect automatically the next time the bot starts (tomorrow's cron), no further action needed from me today.

## User

I want you to review the top 20, if they are rotating every 30 minutes, because on my web report, looks like it is the same since this morning, maybe Im wrong

## Assistant

Good, `write_top_stocks` is called both at session start and at the end of every full rescan. Let's check how many rescans actually ran today and whether the pool composition actually changed.

## Assistant

Good news: the rotation mechanism itself **is** working — I traced all 7 full rescans that fired today and confirmed real turnover, but I also found a genuine reason the dashboard looked stuck.

**1. Rescans are firing on schedule and actually reshuffling the pool**

| Rescan | Time | Pool size | Symbols swapped vs. prior |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | 10:00 | 23 | — |
| 1 | 10:30 | 24 | 7 dropped, 8 added |
| 2 | 11:00 | 21 | 17 dropped, 14 added |
| 3 | 11:30 | 21 | 12 dropped, 12 added |
| 4 | 12:00 | 21 | 10 dropped, 10 added |
| 5 | 12:30 | 21 | 9 dropped, 9 added |
| 6 | 13:09 | 21 | 8 dropped, 8 added |
| 7 | 13:39 | 21 | 5 dropped, 5 added |

So underneath, it's genuinely rotating on the 30-min cadence, not frozen.

**2. But you're not wrong either — two real reasons it *looks* static:**

- **A persistent core.** Only 6 symbols made it into *every single* rescan today: `AI, BKKT, EROC, NVAX, OPFI` (+ `TJGC`, which is pinned because it's your open position — that's by design). Your dashboard's main panel shows `final_10` (actually the top **15**, not 20 — the config key is named `final_candidate_count` but has been 15 since a 2026-09-01 change, the "10" is a legacy label), and since those 5-6 symbols keep re-winning the top ranking spots every cycle, the *visible* top of the list barely changes even though the tail of the full 20-24 pool is turning over a lot underneath.

- **A real stall, not just perception.** The 12:30 PM rescan got stuck for **39 minutes** (12:30:15 → 13:09:22) — caused by that batch of ~96 Alpaca `get_minute_bars` timeout errors I flagged earlier (12:30–13:04). That means `top_stocks.json` — what your web report actually reads — sat completely frozen for **69 minutes** (12:00:54 to 13:09:22) instead of the normal ~30. If you checked the dashboard anytime in that window, it genuinely hadn't updated in over an hour.

**Bottom line:** the rotation logic isn't broken, but (a) the top slice is dominated by a handful of names that keep re-qualifying, and (b) there was one real hour-plus freeze today caused by the upstream Alpaca timeout storm, not a bug in the rotation code itself. If you want, I can look at whether the "final_10 is really 15" label should be fixed, or dig into why the Alpaca timeouts happened (transient outage vs. something on our polling side) — that second one is probably the more actionable one since it can stall the whole health/rescan pipeline again.
